Optimising and Resizing Images With IrfanView

Open Image

• Click on the File Menu, then Open (or use the Open tool on the toolbar).
• Select the image you want to use.
• Click 'open'.

Resize image

• Go to menu Image >Resize/Resample.
• Change the width size to the new desired width (maximum 400), the height will change in proportion.

Save Image

• Go to menu File >Save as type, choose JPG, GIF or PNG.
• Save quality > 55
• Leave all check boxes to their default settings.
• Click 'save'.

Check Size

• Check the size of the image by going into File >Open
• Select the file you just saved.
• Check the 'file size' - is it under 40 000 bytes?  If it is not you will need to repeat this process and resize your image to smaller dimensions (width or height).

Insert image

• Your image is now ready to be used in SmartCMS or SmartCommerce.
