Smart CMS Modules Sub-System

Smart CMS is powered using a modules system, where you can insert different types of modules into your page depending on what type of content you want.  This is a powerful system that makes editing specific types of content very easy.  Need a calendar? Insert a calandar module.  Need a news feed? Insert a news module.  And if you have very specific needs, then we can develop a module custom made for your website.

CMS Express & Pro versions only:

Inserting a new Module:

With appropriate permissions, you should have insert module buttons  in the content areas of your website. Click one of these to insert a new module at the location of the icon.  You will be presented with a new module form with some fields which are as follows:
  • Module: This is the type of module you want to insert.  See Available Modules to see a summary of the possible modules to choose from.
  • View: Some modules can be displayed in different ways, and you can choose how from this dropdown. For instance, the calandar module can be displayed in a table, or as a summary list of events.
  • Title: The title that will be displayed at the top of the module.  If you don't want a title just leave this blank.
  • Source: Here you can choose to either use existing content, or create new content.  Mostly you will be creating new content, however if you want identical content to appear in multiple places, you can select existing content to use.  The content will then remain synchronised between the two locations.
  • Description: This is for your own use only, and will not be displayed to end users.

Deleting Modules:

To delete a module just click the red cross in the top right corner of the module you want to delete.  The system may then ask you if you want to delete the content or archive it.  If you archive the content, then you can recreate it later if you so wish, however if you don't then it will be deleted permanently.
