Page Management

CMS Pro Version Only

All page management on your site is done from the [ manage ] section.  If you have the permissions for it, you can usually access it either through your main site navigation when logged in, or as a hidden link on your admin page. A figure of the manage page is shown at the bottom of this page.

Creating New Pages:

To add a new page to your main site navigation, either click the "New Top Level Page" button or "Add Subpage" button on an existing page.  This will take you to a page where you can choose one of four different types of pages to create.

Content Page
This is a regular site page, which you will probably use the most often.  You will be taken to a page creation form with the following fields:

  • Name: The name of the page that will be used as the link text in the main site navigation
  • Position: The position of the page in the current page hierarchy
  • Open in new Window: If you want the page link to open in a new window
  • Theme Variation: Depending on your site you may have different page themes to choose from
  • Active: If unticked the page will be inaccessible to everyone, however may still be displayed in the navigation just as text with no link.
  • Public: A non-public page only appears to the people who have permission to view it. See Managing current pages for how to set these permissions.
  • Page Title: The text that will appear in the top title bar of the page.  If left to the default or left blank then it will assume the global Title of the website.
  • Keywords / Description: These are hidden elements for search engines to use when indexing your site.  It is usually only necessary to add these on your home page.

External Website Link
This will create a link in your main site navigation to an external website.  The page creation fields for this are the same as for a content page, minus a few and with one field added.  This field called "Page", simply lets you specify the URL that you want the link to go to.

Internal Page Alias
This creates a link to an existing page on your website.  Identical to External Website Link except now the "Page" field is a drop down box where you can select a page on your website to link to.

Move Standalone Page
This lets you transfer a page that was previously a standalone page into the site navigation hierarchy.  You simply choose the standalone page to move and its new position in the hierarchy.  See Standalone Pages for more info on how these types of pages work.

Pagesets
If you have pagesets defined for your website, this option will also be available.  Pagesets allow you to create new pages with default content already defined.  See the Pagesets Page for detailed information on this feature

Managing Current Pages

It's very easy to manage your websites pages all through the "manage" section.  All of your current pages are listed in a table, and are shown as being indented if they are a sub-page of a higher level page.
To edit a page's options, simply click the edit button corresponding to the page you want to edit.  The fields you can edit are the same ones as when creating a new content page, which are described above.
To delete a page, click on the delete button  corresponding to the page you want to delete.  Note that when you delete a page from the hierarchy, it does not actually get deleted, but only moved to being a standalone page.  To permanently delete a page you must go to Standalone pages section and delete it again.
If you want to re-arrange the order of your pages, you can use the up  down  arrows to move a page up or down in the site hierarchy. However you can't use these arrows to move pages into a new section.  To change the section that the page is under, you must click on the edit page button and then change the field called "Parent Section" to be the section you want the edited one to appear under.  Select "Top of Hierarchy" for a top level page.
If you have a non-public page that you want some people to view, you can click the permissions buttons ,  to modify user or group permissions and allow users to view the page.  There is a permission called manage here as well, however this is not functional at this time.  You can only set the view permissions.
