Inserting Links
Using our link management system you can create URL links, Email Links and Anchor Links. You have extra options such as popup boxes, new windows or tooltips, as well as some other advanced link properties. Link Management is available in all versions of the Smart CMS.
Inserting Normal Links:
To the right is shown the default state when opening the link dialog box. Regular links are specified as the default Link Type which is URL. You can specify a protocol to add as a prefix to your link, however for links on your website you must select <none>. To insert a link to a page on your website, click on the "Browse Server" button. This will take you to another dialog box where you can select the page you want to link to. The proper URL information will be entered in for you, so you can just press OK.
Inserting Email Links:
An email link is one which opens up the user's default email client with your email address, subject and default message filled in. Simply select Email from the Link Type menu for an email link, and then fill in the appropriate information.
Anchor Links:
Anchor links allow you to link to a location on the same page. This is useful for very long documents where you may want to have summary links at the top of the page to certain points in the document. Before you can add Anchor links however, you must first create Anchors in the locations you want to link to. After that, just select "Anchor on this page" under Link Type and then select the name of the Anchor you want to link to.
Editing the Link's Target
Click on the Target Tab to open up the Link Target Options. The target is basically where the link will open up, whether it is in the same window, new window, popup window or other. In most cases all you have to do is select the Target from the dropdown menu, however for popup windows, you are given a myriad of options as shown on the right.
Advanced Link Options
You can access some advanced link options by clicking on the advanced tab. Most of the options here are seldomly used so for most people this tab won't need to be used. There is however one option called Advisory Title which lets you define a tooltip for the link. This means when they hover their mouse over the link, the extra text here will be displayed.
